Selected photographs

A selection of photographs taken in Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and Harbin.

A walk through Tianzhu Village

Tianzhu Village (天竺村) is probably not a place you would go to if living in central Beijing. You would be more likely to pass by it unknowingly on your way to and from Beijing Capital International Airport.

Morning in the fastest growing city

I am working on a series of photographs from Beihai, Guangxi Province in southern China. It is said to be the world's fastest growing city.

About The Quiet Shutter

Most of the photographs posted here were taken in the streets of Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I'd like to think they catch a glimpse of what life in large Chinese cities look like today.

On equipment

Cameras don't take good photographs by themselves, but it helps if you enjoy the equipment you use.

Most photos on this site were taken with 35mm Leica cameras. I also shoot medium format film with a Hasselblad and a Rolleiflex.
